Infrastructures - Quarries and materials
Background
The production of natural or recycled aggregate represents a major economic challenge.
Apart from the traditional Construction and Public Works sectors, aggregate’s mineral qualities play a significant role, directly or indirectly, in the make up of numerous manufactured products including fertilizers, paper pulp, cosmetics or toothpaste.
Together, these products consume an annual 7 to 10 tonnes of aggregate per inhabitant.
As a result, optimal management of the resource while respecting the environment and promoting sustainable development calls for grey matter to be at the service of the matter in the earth.
