Roland, 54 – Work and career progression at Antea
Head of implantation and tunnel specialist, Roland has been with ANTEA since its beginnings. "With a background in mechanical energetics engineering, I started out in the development of drilling equipment. After a period spent in South Africa on water supply projects, I naturally turned to in situ tests and hydrogeotechnical drilling tests. This led to my involvement in tunnel reconnaissance campaigns including the Lyon – Turin transalpine project. The opportunity to change direction came in 2002 when I joined the project management group at the Saint Martin la Porte winze. I worked on site until 2006. Currently, I’m still involved in underground project management with the extension of the ANDRA underground laboratory in Bure. This diverse career path, within Antea, remains a source of personal development for me and which I have enjoyed sharing with colleagues on a daily basis. We never stop learning."
Frédéric, 32 – No two missions are the same
Frédéric is an enthusiast. Project manager in Waste in Lyon, his two creeds are the environment and the international aspect. "I joined ANTEA to be able to fully benefit from the interdisciplinary work on offer, the variety of projects and their originality, on both a geographical and content level. To illustrate the diversity of the activities I have at the moment, I’m thinking of two missions I have been able to take part in over the last few months. One was in the Congo for an environmental analysis of the fragility of oil friends, while the other was in Marseille on a project about the energetic development of biogas and other renewable sources of energy. It’s the combination of operations which are so different from each other which makes my job so rewarding on a daily basis. That’s what I found at Antea."
Cécile, 24 – A taste for life in the field
Engineer in the analysis of contaminated sites and soils in Aubagne, Cécile joined ANTEA one year ago, on an internship to complete her studies. "It was thanks to the former pupils network at my old school which enabled me to take up the offer from ANTEA. I knew very little about the design and planning department and I really discovered a very interesting area. What I particularly like is the balance between working out in the field and in the office. I enjoy working with people and meeting technical clients is a good way of understanding their requirements, learning and gaining confidence. And, I have been able to work throughout a large area of the South-East and have varied projects where I have worked on my own and got involved very quickly. For example, I am working for major clients including Total or Eiffage, on site diagnosis or construction site decontamination. In the long term, my dual specialization in waste and soil treatment will, I think, stand me in good stead for handling global opportunities. In the meantime, I’m learning a lot."
