La Ciotat platform: Design and realization project management of a Mega-Yachts platform
Customer name : SEMIDEP
Sector : Property
Date of realization : 2007
Project description
To strengthen its position in the yachting market, the SEMIDEP-Ciotat wanted to set up a platform capable of installing a 2000-ton and 80-metre long vessel in less than 5 hours, to add to the existing facilities of the La Ciotat shipyard.
The aim was to house all types of yachts, in particular the world’s largest, in high-quality conditions and swiftly, while adhering to the strictest conditions in terms of protecting the environment.
The ANTEA-IOSIS (ANTEA authorized) group, were responsible for the design and realization project management for the development of a maintenance and repair port platform, designed to house mega-yachts in the La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône) shipyards.
The realization of this development comprised:
- the reinforcement of nearly 4 hectares of land for the platform (ANTEA), mainly comprising rocky backfill of a thickness of approximately 10 to 20m, on a layer of sand several metres deep, on top of a sandstone subsoil
- the reconstruction of the quay girder along nearly 80 linear metres (IOSIS), backing on to a future boat lift.
The constraint of the admissible differential subsidence, less than 2 millimetres per metre, called for specific technical reinforcement solutions (dynamic compacting, micropiles drilled to a depth of 20m, subgrade treated with hydraulic binders) to differentiate based on load descents.
