Hydraulic analyses concerning Brittany high-speed line

Customer name : Réseau ferré de France (RFF)

Sector : Transport

Date of realization : 2008-2010

Project description

The Brittany - Pays de la Loire high-speed line project involves the extension of the Le Mans - Rennes / Sablé sur Sarthe of the existing Atlantique line. It comprises 214 km and intercepts around 290 talwegs and low points.
RFF commissioned ANTEA to carry out hydraulic analyses at the Detailed Pre-Project stage with the aim of:
- drawing up an initial status of all intercepted waterways and talwegs (intercepted catchment area of several hectares to around 2780 km² for the Sarthe),
- define low water and flood flows of waterways and talwegs,
- dimension crossing constructions and associated works using simple or complex modelling as well as any necessary construction facilities (boulder breakwater protection, developments in line with ecological transparency etc.),
- assess the incidence of the project on the environment during work and operational phases,
- propose necessary limiting and compensation measures to limit the project’s impact on the environment.
